Sarah Jackson Walker, Soprano
Sarah, a native of Minnesota, has been devoted to Early Music since falling in love with Bach's masterpieces as a child. Her deep connection to languages and poetry bloomed alongside her passion for music, inspiring a lifelong calling to the art of song. Sarah graduated from St. Catherine University with a degree in Voice Performance; after completing her degree, she studied with master teacher and mentor Elizabeth Mannion. Nearly two decades ago, she was blessed to find her way into the Early Music community in the Twin Cities, and a few years later, she was privileged to enjoy her first artistic collaboration with Tom. The rest is history, with many Renaissance and Baroque music concerts with Tom and his fellow lutenists, viol players, and keyboardists in the books!
Sarah is also a survivor of childhood domestic violence, so as the daughter of a single mother, it is a very special gift to have the opportunity to contribute to tonight’s benefit for Havenwood.

HRG and Havenwood would like to sincerely thank the following artists for donating their time and extraordinary talent to this very worthwhile event.
Thomas Walker Jr., Lutenist
Tom started classical guitar lessons at age 10. He became captivated by the fingerstyle work of Leo Kottke, John Fahey, & others and spent many years playing and composing in that style. He returned to classical music in college, studying classical guitar and music theory. Theory classes provided his first introduction to the earlier musical vocabulary of counterpoint.
After college, he studied jazz guitar independently but was increasingly obsessed with early music, particularly Renaissance polyphony. He bought his first lute in 1992 and began studies with Phillip Rukavina shortly after. Since then, Thomas has performed with Phillip, Ensemble Polaris, Consortium Carissimi, Sprezzatura, Lute2Viols, the Rose Ensemble, and the Venere Lute Quartet, as well as with local lutenists Paul Berget and Edward Martin.
Thomas served as treasurer for the Lyra Baroque from 2003-2006 and as treasurer for the Lute Society of America from 2015-2018. In regular hours, he works as a fractional economist/CFO for private firms in agribusiness and manufacturing.
Thomas’ recordings, Stile Moderno, Courante (with Edward Martin), Due (with Phillip Rukavina), and La Superbe can be found on most popular streaming platforms.
